Why is my dentist sending me to a periodontist?
Periodontists have advanced training in the treatment of periodontal disease and the placement of dental implants. Patients with certain health factors such as diabetes, smoking, stress, and other genetic factors may have a lowered resistance to periodontal disease.
What will happen at my first visit?
We will complete an in-depth medical and dental health history and a thorough examination to measure for bone loss, and loose teeth. We will also screen for oral cancer, evaluate your bite and identify any other signs of periodontal disease.
Will I need surgery?
Not everyone who has periodontal disease needs surgery. If treated early, gum disease can be controlled without surgery. Dr. Miles will make recommendations based on your individual exam and current situation.
How much will this cost?
All patients, and therefore, all treatment plans and finances are different. The fee for periodontal therapy can vary considerably depending on the type and complexity of the treatment. Full treatment plan and fee structure can usually be determined at the initial visit.
Will my insurance cover this?
We are happy to help you by filing all the necessary insurance forms and documents. Keep in mind insurance plans vary dependent on the plan you, or your employer and the insurance company created. Please contact your insurance company or review your policy to find out the specifics of your plan. We can also send in a predetermination to your insurance company to get a fairly accurate determination of coverage.
What insurances do you accept?
We are an in-network provider for many insurance companies. Please contact our office to discuss your specific insurance questions.
